This fifth book in the Your Winding Daybreak Ways series depicts Andrew returning to his Taylor family roots in Magnolia County, Tennessee, to attend graduate school at Pantheon University. Within weeks Andrew finds himself at the very center of the burgeoning American existentialist movement. In fact, he helps edit the Pantheon Messenger, arguably the most influential literary journal of the second half of the twentieth century. He walks the campus there among the giants of the 1950’s movement—the novelist, Walter Talley; the sensual poet, Donald Sanders; the avant-garde dramatist, Jeffrey Kline; and Kline’s tempestuous lover, Bianca, the alluring Portuguese poetess. Within months Andrew’s association with Bianca begins destroying his relationship with a first love, Catherine, and derailing his promising professional career. The novel then focuses on Andrew’s decade-long descent into hell and his subsequent long climb out to some semblance of redemption.
